About

One engineer, two fuels, one phone number.

JET Heating Ltd is James Tayton. He is the person who answers the phone, looks at the boiler, sets the price and does the work — and the person you ring afterwards if anything needs a second look.

Shipbourne · one engineer, two fuels

A limited company with exactly one engineer in it. That is the point.

JET Heating Ltd was set up in February 2021 and is run by James Tayton. He answers the phone, he looks at the boiler, he gives you the price and he is the one who comes back if it needs a second look. Nothing is subcontracted to a van you have never seen, and nothing gets lost between an office and the engineer.

The unusual part is the fuel range. Plenty of engineers do gas, fewer are set up for oil, and around Shipbourne, Plaxtol and the lanes towards Sevenoaks a great many houses are off the mains gas network entirely. James is Gas Safe registered for natural gas and OFTEC registered for oil-fired appliances, so an oil boiler service and a gas landlord certificate can be booked with the same person.

In the business's own words: committed to addressing the need for reliable, intelligent and cost-effective solutions to central heating, hot water and plumbing problems. In practice that means telling you when a repair is the sensible answer, and telling you plainly when it is not.

The engineer who prices it is the engineer who does it

JET Heating Ltd has one active director and no rota of vans. James Tayton takes the call, looks at the job, sets the price and carries out the work. If something is not right afterwards, you ring the same number and get the same engineer.

Gas and oil, from the same phone number

Gas Safe registered for natural gas and OFTEC registered for oil-fired appliances. For houses off the mains gas grid — and there are a lot of them between Shipbourne and Sevenoaks — that means one engineer for the boiler, the cylinder and the plumbing, rather than two.

Prices for the routine work, written down

Boiler services, landlord gas safety certificates, homebuyer heating surveys and the hourly rate for breakdowns are all published, plus VAT at 20%. You can work out what a service costs before you ring, which is more than most heating firms in Kent will tell you.

Check it at Companies House

Every claim on this page can be checked in a minute: the company at Companies House, the gas registration on the ID card James carries, and the oil registration through OFTEC. That is deliberately more useful than a row of logos.

What JET Heating is registered for

These are the registrations the business holds. No numbers are printed here on purpose — a number on a website proves nothing, whereas the card at your door and the public register do.

Gas Safe registered

For all natural gas work. Ask to see the ID card before any gas work starts — every registered engineer carries one, and it lists exactly which appliances they are signed off for.

OFTEC registered

For oil-fired appliances, which is what keeps the houses off the mains gas network in this part of Kent running.

Nest Pro installer

Nest and other smart heating controls installed and commissioned, then set up on your phone before James leaves.

Aqualisa registered installer

In-depth knowledge of the Aqualisa shower range, which is useful when a shower needs matching to the water pressure you actually have.

Where James works

Out of Shipbourne, across west Kent.

JET Heating Ltd is registered at Shipbourne, between Tonbridge and Sevenoaks, and covers Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells and the surrounding areas — the business's own description of its patch. Oil-fired properties off the mains gas network are very much included.

Sevenoaks

Fifteen minutes up the lane from Shipbourne. Boiler services, landlord certificates and breakdowns across the town and the villages around it.

Tonbridge

The closest town to the workshop, so short-notice breakdowns and services here are the easiest to fit into a day.

Tunbridge Wells

Regular ground for boiler changes, oil services and bathroom and shower installs, including the older housing stock where the pipework rarely matches the drawings.

Surrounding villages

Shipbourne, Plaxtol, Hadlow, Ightham and the rest of the lanes in between — including the oil-fired houses off the mains gas network.

Mon–Sat, 8am–6pm · closed Sunday. James takes his own calls between jobs, so if it rings out he is usually under a boiler. Leave a message or send a WhatsApp with a photo of the appliance and he will ring you back the same day.
