Services
Eight things JET Heating does, written out in full.
Gas and oil, from installation to the annual service to the Saturday breakdown — plus the certificates, controls, showers and plumbing repairs around them. Where a job has a published price it is quoted here, plus VAT at 20%.
Boiler installation & upgrade
New and replacement boilers on gas and oil — sized for the house, fitted by the engineer who quoted it, and demonstrated before he leaves.
Installation, service, breakdown, upgrade — that is the strap on every page of JET Heating's own site, and installation is the biggest of the four. A replacement boiler is only half about the boiler: it is about whether the existing pipework, cylinder and controls can carry what you are putting in, and whether the flue and the gas or oil supply are right. James looks at all of that before quoting, fits the boiler, commissions it properly, and sets the controls up with you rather than leaving a manual on the worktop. Gas installations are carried out under Gas Safe registration, oil-fired work under OFTEC registration.

Gas boiler service
Annual gas boiler servicing at £99 plus VAT for a basic service, or £150 plus VAT for a full strip and clean.
Two levels, because two different boilers are in front of him. The basic service at £99 plus VAT is the annual check a boiler in reasonable order needs: combustion analysis, seals, safety devices, condensate, gas pressure and flow, flue integrity, and the controls actually doing what the programmer says. The full strip and clean at £150 plus VAT is for the boiler that has not been touched in years — burner and heat exchanger out, cleaned, reassembled and re-tested. If you do not know which yours needs, describe it on the phone and James will tell you honestly. Prices are plus VAT at 20%.

Oil boiler service
OFTEC registered oil boiler servicing at £149 plus VAT — the service a great many houses around Shipbourne actually need.
Between Shipbourne, Plaxtol, Ightham and the Sevenoaks villages a large number of houses are not on the mains gas network and run on oil. Oil boilers are less forgiving than gas ones about being ignored: the nozzle, the filters, the electrodes and the baffles all need cleaning or replacing on a schedule, and a badly set combustion head burns money every hour it runs. An oil boiler service is £149 plus VAT and is carried out under OFTEC registration. Being both Gas Safe and OFTEC registered means one engineer for a house with an oil boiler and a gas hob.

Landlord Gas Safety Certificates
CP12 certificates for rented property: £99 plus VAT covering two appliances, additional appliances £25 plus VAT each.
Every rented property in England with gas appliances needs a Landlord Gas Safety Record renewed every twelve months, carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer, with a copy given to existing tenants inside 28 days and to new tenants at the start of the tenancy. JET Heating charges £99 plus VAT for a certificate covering two appliances — typically a boiler and a hob — and £25 plus VAT for each additional appliance. If a check fails, you will be told what needs doing and what it will cost before anything is stripped down, which matters when a tenancy is starting on Friday.
Breakdowns & plumbing repairs
No heating, no hot water, a locked-out boiler or a leak — charged at £99 plus VAT per hour, minimum one hour.
The fault-finding half of the job, and the half that rewards experience rather than parts. Boilers that lock out on the coldest morning, radiators cold at the bottom, systems that quietly lose pressure overnight, hot water that has gone lukewarm, leaks on joints under floors. Plumbing repairs are covered too: taps, valves, cylinders, waste and supply pipework. The charge is £99 plus VAT per hour with a minimum of one hour, so a twenty-minute fix is priced as an hour rather than as a call-out fee plus labour, and parts are agreed with you before they are fitted.

Smart heating installation
Nest Pro installer — Nest and other smart heating controls fitted, wired properly and set up on your phone, from £150.
A smart thermostat only saves money if it is wired in correctly and then actually configured. JET Heating is a Nest Pro installer and fits Nest and other smart heating systems from £150 plus VAT, depending on what is already on the wall and what the boiler will talk to. The work that matters is behind the plate: the right connection to the boiler or the zone valves, the receiver sited where it will hold a signal, and then sitting down with you to set a schedule that fits how the house is actually used. Combined with a service, it is the cheapest useful thing most houses can do to a heating system.
Homebuyer central heating survey
£195 plus VAT, with a full written report — an independent look at the heating before you exchange contracts.
A building survey will tell you the boiler exists. It will rarely tell you whether the boiler is on its last winter, whether the radiators are sludged, whether the cylinder is an unvented unit nobody has serviced, or whether the controls were bodged in by the previous owner. A homebuyer central heating survey is £195 plus VAT and comes with a full written report covering the boiler, controls, radiators and hot water system, with the likely costs ahead of you. It is the sort of money that pays for itself the moment it saves you inheriting a boiler replacement you did not budget for.
Showers & bathroom refits
Registered Aqualisa installer — stand-alone shower installs through to full bathroom refits, matched to your water pressure.
JET Heating is a registered Aqualisa installer with in-depth knowledge of their entire shower range, which matters more than it sounds: the most common reason a new shower disappoints is that it was never matched to the water pressure and flow the house can actually deliver. James can advise on a stand-alone shower install or a full bathroom refit, do the first-fix pipework, fit the sanitaryware and make the final connections. If the hot water side needs upgrading to make a shower work properly, that is the same engineer and the same job rather than a second trade.

Not sure which of those you need?
Describe the symptom rather than the solution — “hot water but no heating”, “boiler locks out every morning”, “letting the flat in a fortnight” — and James will tell you which job it is and what it costs before anyone gets in a van.
